Announcement of the 12 th International Forum on Marxist Aesthetics (No.2)

With the approval of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange of the Ministry of Education and through negotiations and discussions among the organizers, the 12th International Forum on Marxist Aesthetics will be held in Hangzhou on October 24th –25th, 2026. The organize s include: School of Philosophy of Zhejiang University, School of Marxism Studies of China Academy of Art, and College of Literature of Sichuan University. Cooperation units include: International Council for Philosophy an d Humanities (CIPSH) and Marxist Aesthetics Branch of Chinese Aesthetics Society.

The International Forum on Marxist Aesthetics has consistently focused on deeply cultivating Marxist aesthetic theory, actively engaging with conemporary literary and artistic practices, emphasizing comparative studies and exchanges among different schools of Marxist aesthetics, creatively responding to frontier issues of the times, and striving to construct a contemporary Marxist aesthetic theory of global significance. The theme of the 12th International Forum on Marxist Aesthetics is: World Aesthetics: New Opportunities and Challenges.

Forum format and requirements:

Forum size: 100 participants

Forum format: keynote speeches, sub-forum discussions, and roundtable dialogues (combining online and offline participation)

Forum languages: Chinese and English (simultaneous interpretation will be provided during the forum)

Paper submission: Please send the confirmation of participation and the full text of the paper to the conference email (mkszymx@163.com) before October 1 st, 2026, with the email subject marked as “Name + Institution + Paper Title.” The conference secretariat will issue an invitation letter after reviewing the papers. The forum will compile and publish English-language essays through internationally renowned publishing houses. Excellent papers will be selected for publication in Marxist Aesthetic Studies and Chengdu Review.

Material Fee: Except for invited special guests, participants are required to pay a material fee of 700 RMB, which covers materials and meals during the forum. Travel and accommodation expenses are to be borne by the participants themselves.
